ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Police say a man is behind bars after he threatened another man with a knife for refusing to steal alcohol.


Matthew King is facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge police say he told the victim to go inside a CVS at Unser and Central to steal alcohol. After he refused, investigators claim, King pulled out a knife and started chasing him.

The two eventually ended up inside the Patrick J. Baca Library on Central, where officers were able to catch up to them. Police say King was visibly intoxicated when he was taken into custody.

He is being held without bond.
