An Albuquerque police officer in the area heard that one shot and two more.

Then he saw two cars, one of them a green Honda Civic, speeding away from the parking lot of New Beginnings Church near the intersection of Montgomery and Carlisle in northeast Albuquerque.

Jeanine Iverson, the mother of one of the men killed in a shooting late Friday night.

According to a criminal complaint, the officer tried to follow the cars but lost sight of them. When he returned to the lot, two males had been shot.

The mother of Jordan Mucher – one of the victims – said she heard about what happened from one of her son’s friends.

“My son’s best friend, Tyler, had messaged me on Facebook and told me to get down to the crime scene ASAP,” Jeanine Iverson said. “I got there at midnight and I was there for five hours.”

Police identified the victims as Mucher and Paul Francia. Iverson said the two were best friends.

“They’ve known each other since middle school. They’d come over to my house, hang out, eat all my food,” she said. “Everybody got along, as if he was my other son.”

Witnesses on the scene of Friday night’s shooting told police it was Anthony Kapinski – also known as Anthony “Puck” – who shot Mucher and Francia.

On Kapinski’s Facebook account he posted, “i was being jumped and im the bad guy.”

APD said they interviewed Francia’s girlfriend, who was at the parking lot on Friday night. She told police Francia punched Kapinski, and Mucher jumped in to help Francia.

She said she heard gunshots and watched as Francia held his chest and fell forward.

Meanwhile, Iverson said Mucher was going to be a father.

“I don't understand,” she said, “and I want justice.”

Investigators said one witness identified the owner of the Honda Civic as the shooter. The other identified Kapinski from a photo.
