As of Oct. 1, Colorado has banned the production of marijuana edibles like animal figures, fruit or people. The legislators behind the ban hope to it will prevent kids from ingesting things they shouldn't as well as preventing adults from accidentally overdosing.
"They've been working on it for a year, so the manufacturers have had plenty of time, to you know, look at that and work on that and be ready to go," Leonard Martinez with the Durango Police Department said.
Authorities say if you find anything that looks a little bit odd or off in your kids' candy, just toss it. That goes for anything that looks like it's been open or also anything that looks like it has been used.
"There have been times when my grandkids have brought you know stuff that is like, 'Uh, no. We are going to get rid of this is," You know, it's just not worth it," Martinez said.
